'He is a little bit short' - Joey Barton takes brutal swipe at Celtic star after Motherwell draw
Rangers flop Joey Barton has taken a brutal swipe at Celtic star Scott Brown after he was involved in Cedric Cipre being sent off for Motherwell on Sunday.
Kipre was shown a straight red card for what appeared to be a slight kick aimed at Brown when both players were on the deck in the 0-0 draw at Fir Park.
The Hoops captain writhed in agony despite minimal contact from the Well player, leading to suggestions that he had tried to con the referee into brandishing a red card.
Brown has since been criticised for his actions, but not quite as severely as what Barton said while speaking on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on TalkSport radio on Monday morning.
The ex-Rangers and Manchester City player was quoted by the Daily Record as laying into the Celtic star, questioning his state of mind.
“Has Scott Brown been cheating again?” said Barton.

“Is he the full shilling? We saw him up at Aberdeen the other week and then wearing the shades against Rangers.
“It seems to me he is a little bit short. He doesn’t look the full ticket to me.”
Football Insider verdict
Barton was a flop at Ibrox but still has every right to criticise Brown for what he did against Motherwell. The Celtic captain has been lauded for not wearing a coat in freezing Russia and hailed for the way he reacted to a tough challenge on him at Aberdeen, but he needs to be criticised for the way he acted when Kipre kicked out at him. Brown is meant to be the ‘hard man’ of Scottish football, not one of those soft European players you see rolling around every five minutes in La Liga, Serie A and to some extend the Premier League. It was embarrassing and it no doubt helped the referee make his mind up to send him off.
