'He loves Leeds United more than anything' - Exclusive: Brown reacts as PL giants plot raid

Michael Brown claims that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will not have his head turned after being linked with a move to Liverpool.

The former Leeds and Portsmouth star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the 24-year-old will have plenty of interest but that his sole focus will be on getting his boyhood club back to the Premier League.

As reported by Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones, the Premier League leaders are considering a move for Phillips this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad with another midfielder.

However, Brown believes Phillips will not allow himself to be distracted by a potential move to Anfield, highlighting his “love” for Leeds.

Asked about Liverpool’s reported interest, Brown told Football Insider: “I think what’s great for Kalvin Phillips is that he’s had a wonderful season, he’s a great talent as we all know.

“As a young, British player who can play in loads of positions, are there going to be clubs looking at him? Of course they are. What’s great is he loves Leeds United, he loves Leeds United more than anything else.

“He’s enjoying his football and all he’ll be looking at is trying to get the season over the line, get promoted and why not? He’s getting all the plaudits everywhere and it’s great, he’s a great kid.”

Phillips, who was born and bred in Leeds, has played 175 times for the club since breaking through the youth ranks at Elland Road.

The midfielder has been a mainstay this season, missing four Championship games through suspension and a further two due to injury.

In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan says that “fans are overjoyed” with a major Elland Road development.
