Henrik Pedersen looks set for David Storch meeting that can save his Sheffield Wednesday job

Henrik Pedersen will be among Sheffield Wednesday staff set to meet David Storch, leader of the consortium looking to complete a purchase of the soon-to-be League One club, this week.

It has been a season of chaos at Hillsborough, with the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri finally coming to an end in October when the club entered administration.

Players and staff had gone unpaid under the Thai businessman, with the resulting points deductions handing Sheffield Wednesday the earliest relegation in EFL history in February.

In December, a consortium led by James Bord was named as the preferred bidder for the club and looked set to take over, before ultimately pulling out of the process.

Arise Capital Partners, led by Storch, is reportedly undergoing vetting processes amid its hopes of completing a deal, with this week’s meeting presumably a sign of positive direction.

Henrik Pedersen set for key David Storch interview

Former Manchester City financial adviser exclusively told Football Insider in March that Storch’s group must receive EFL approval within the next four weeks to buy Sheffield Wednesday.

Over two weeks have passed since then, but there is not thought to be any concerns over the safety of the takeover.

A man who may be worried, however, is Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen. The 48-year-old has been in charge since July 2025, when Danny Rohl left his role as head coach.

The Dane signed a three-year contract, admitting that he had fallen in love with the club in the two years since his arrival.

Pedersen’s reign has been nightmarish, but there is little he can be blamed for. The Owls have lost a staggering number of players this season, including eight on free transfers.

To put the level of turnover into perspective, of the players who started Sheffield Wednesday’s final game of last season, just three remain in the starting line-up who faced Hull City before the international break.

However, someone, whether the 48-year-old is deserving or not, must answer for the football that has seen not a single win since September.

According to The Star, Storch is set to meet the club’s staff at Hillsborough this week, in an informal meeting that could well morph into an impromptu job interview for Pedersen.

What Pedersen has said about his future

Pedersen’s loyalty will be the biggest factor supporting his stay in charge at Hillsborough.

The manager has taken blow after blow, had his entire team pulled apart, yet he continues to stand by Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking to Danish outlet DR in March, he was asked if he will remain in charge next season and said: “Right now, that’s 100 per cent my expectation.

“But we’re also waiting to find out who the new owners will be and what they want. It’s going to be a big, big task to rebuild Sheffield Wednesday.

“It’s with the stadium, the training facilities, everything, you have to start over again, but it could be big.”

The first test for Pedersen will be to provide potential new owner, Storch, with a convincing reason why he should still be in charge come August.
