‘He’s a serious talent’ – The West Ham star who ‘has his mojo back’ under Nuno

West Ham United need some of their big players to step up in their Premier League relegation battle, and one star may be back to his best.

At the end of September, Nuno Espirito Santo took over from Graham Potter at the London Stadium.

Going into their game against Newcastle United, Espirito Santo had yet to oversee a win whilst in charge of the Hammers.

However, West Ham beat Newcastle 3-1 to give their Portuguese manager his first victory at the helm, producing a spirited display.

Newcastle took the lead early on through Jacob Murphy, and it looked as if it was going to be another afternoon of misery for West Ham.

However, with ten minutes remaining of the first period, Lucas Paqueta took aim from the edge of the area and fired a shot into the bottom corner.

Then, just before the break, the Hammers completed the comeback as Sven Botman turned the ball into his own net, with Tomas Soucek adding a third in second-half stoppage time.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison highlighted how Paqueta seems to be back to his best under Espirito Santo.

He said: “Lucas Paqueta has been good. Sometimes I think he overdoes it, but I think he has his mojo back.

“Last time I saw him perform like that was at Nottingham Forest away. We know he’s a serious talent, but we don’t see it often enough.

West Ham face battle to keep Lucas Paqueta

Over the past week, Paqueta has been linked with a West Ham exit, with rumours that he wants to leave the club.

According to a report from The Times (28 October), it has emerged that the Brazilian is keen to depart the Hammers in January.

Paqueta was heavily linked to the likes of Manchester City over the summer, but an exit never materialised.

Now the East London side could be set for another battle to keep hold of one of their most important players.
