Jackie McNamara says that Glenn Middleton will be targeting a lot of playing time at Hibernian after leaving Rangers on loan over the summer.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says that the 19-year-old saw his chances of game time curtailed by the arrival of Ryan Kent last season, leaving him facing a battle for a place in the senior side.
Middleton managed to play a total of 28 games across all competitions, although only eight of those appearances came in the starting XI.
McNamara says that the youngster will be hoping to see his playing time increase significantly during his temporary spell away from Ibrox, insisting that he has proven his worth to Rangers in the past.
McNamara told Football Insider: “He’s got a lot of pace and he’s done well before. He’s played a lot of games last season but Ryan Kent came in he didn’t really feature a lot.
“Like the rest of them (loanees) he’ll want to go and play at Hibs and see how he gets on there, to try and get to a good level.”
Middleton joined Rangers from English outfit Norwich City back in January 2018 but despite his game time last season, was not a part of any matchday squads in their Europa League qualifiers over the summer.
Since making his move to Hibernian, he has played three times, all coming in the starting XI.
