‘He’s dreadful’, ‘ An embarrassment’ - Everton fans tear into 27-year-old after Tottenham defeat
By Derek Smithson
Everton suffered a crushing defeat to Tottenham on Saturday – and the club’s supporters were particularly furious with defender Cuco Martina on Twitter for his performance.
The 27-year-old right back was a part of a vulnerable defence that lost 3-0 at home to Spurs in the Premier League.
Ronald Koeman’s side continued their difficult start to the league season and now have just four points from their opening four games.
Spurs stroked to a comfortable victory courtesy of a Harry Kane brace, while playmaker Christian Eriksen also got on the scoresheet.
The Merseyside club now turn their attention to a Europa League clash on Atalanta on Thursday night, before their difficult league start continues with a trip to current table toppers Manchester United.

Martina is a big favourite of manager Koeman and was bought during the summer from Southampton, but has made a difficult start to life at Goodison Park.
The absence of first-choice right-back Seamus Coleman due to injury has opened the door for a place in the starting XI and Martina has made five appearances so far in all competitions.
He is recognised for being a pacy full-back that has good attacking instincts, but fans have been heavily critical of the defensive side of his game.
The Curacao international struggled to deal with the Spurs attack at the weekend, with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Ben Davies causing serious problems down the flank.
In other Everton news, a Sky pundit has commented on the club’s top-six chances.
