Leeds United star Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas could not cope with the brilliant feet of Chelsea sensation Timo Werner.
That is according to Noel Whelan, the former Leeds striker speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs about the forward who has most impressed him this season.
Whelan watches all of United’s matches in his role as a matchday pundit and the player who has really stood out is Werner.
The forward, 24, has made a big impact since signing for Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the summer for around £53million.
He did not score against Leeds in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge but did set up one of their goals in a thrilling attacking display.
“Werner, what a player, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone run with the ball at their feet as quickly as him,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“He’s gone past Stuart Dallas who is no slouch, he’s gone past Alioski running with the ball, it’s not a straight-line run. He’s electric, that kid.”
Werner has established himself as a key member of Frank Lampard’s title-chasing side since his big-money arrival.
He has started all 12 of Chelsea’s Premier League matches as well as four of their six Champions League games, operating mainly on the left side of their attack.
His 19 matches in all competitions have yielded eight goals and five assists, including that one against Leeds last week.
