'He's Everything you want' - Exclusive: Bruce in awe of one Celtic player

Scott Brown does “everything you want from a captain” and remains the “main flagstone” at Celtic.

That is according to ex-SPL and Premier League defender Alex Bruce, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the long-standing Hoops totem.

It has been a harrowing week for Celtic amid their shock Europa League defeat to Copenhagen that sent them crashing out of the competition.

But Neil Lennon’s side are still well placed to secure what would be a remarkable fourth consecutive domestic treble, with Brown leading the way at the age of 34.

“He’s been the main flagstone, the main driving force behind Celtic for the last ten
years,” Bruce told Football Insider.

“I think he’s been an excellent player for them, when you play against him now you can see he’s still a really good player, a really top player over the years.

“His desire, his enthusiasm for the game, his fight, his tenacity – he’s everything you want – and I played against him a few weeks ago at Rugby Park and he just does everything you want from a captain.

“He keeps the ball, breaks it up, flies into tackles, never shirks a challenge and a bit of physicality from a central midfielder playing in the position he does.”

Brown has already clocked up 47 appearances for Celtic this season, with all bar a Scottish League Cup early-round clash in the starting XI.

During his 13-year stint at Parkhead, the ex-Hibernian man has played 563 times for the club and hoovered up an astonishing 20 major trophies.

In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club have secured a big windfall despite harrowing week.
