‘He’s going to cost us the title’ – Rangers fans roast ‘abysmal’ player for what he did vs Motherwell

Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title hopes took a hit on Wednesday as they drew 1-1 with 10-man Motherwell.

Despite a wealth of chances for the hosts, it looked as if Nicolas Raskin’s early strike would be enough to seal the three points after Lukas Fadinger was sent off for the Steelmen.

However, Stephen Welsh, who made a deadline day loan move to Motherwell from Celtic, lashed in an 89th-minute equaliser at Fir Park to ensure the points were shared.

After Hearts’ win over Hibernian on Tuesday, Rangers are now five points behind the Jambos at the summit, with Celtic possessing the opportunity to leapfrog the Gers if they win their game in hand.

As a result, many of the travelling fans were furious with the performance, with Youssef Chermiti in particular being called out.

Rangers fans fume with Youssef Chermiti after Motherwell draw

Despite being one of Rangers’ most expensive signings of all time, Chermiti has been woeful for much of his debut campaign at Ibrox.

To date, he has only netted four times for the Old Firm side, despite having a flurry of great opportunities.

While it had looked like Chermiti had turned a corner after his brace against Celtic, this has proven to be his last goals in the Scottish Premiership, with the striker now on another goal drought.

Now, after missing another good chance on Wednesday, many Rangers fans have seen enough and fear that he may cost them the title come the end of the season.

Multiple supporters are also calling on Rangers to simply sell Chermiti, with the 21-year-old continuing to underperform.

How bad was Chermiti vs Motherwell?

According to Fotmob on 12 February, Chermiti certainly had a poor game against Motherwell.

The striker had four shots, of which he only hit the target with two of his efforts.

On top of this, he missed one big chance, only completed 50 per cent of his passes and won just 44 per cent of his aerial duels.

It was a dreadful display, with Chermiti proving unable to make a positive impact, even if he is not getting among the goals.

The fact that he managed to last 86 minutes on the pitch is wild considering the display.

Now, Danny Rohl has to seriously consider his place in the starting XI, or the title may already be lost.
