‘He’s got his heart set on joining Liverpool’ – Marc Guehi makes transfer decision
Marc Guehi has his heart set on a move to Liverpool this summer and is prepared to snub Tottenham should a rival offer arrive.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Thomas Frank’s side were eyeing up a fresh offer for the 25-year-old.
However, the England defender has made clear his preference to join Liverpool and is prepared to wait until next summer if he must to secure the move.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 20 June that Guehi wants to join Liverpool and will prioritise their offer ahead of the likes of Newcastle and Spurs.
Crystal Palace’s captain wants to play regularly at the highest level and compete for Champions League and Premier League trophies on a consistent basis.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 28 July that Liverpool still have a “concrete” interest in Guehi and are lining up a fresh offer in the coming weeks.

Marc Guehi makes Liverpool decision amid Tottenham interest
As things stand, Guehi is believed to be prioritising regular playing time to secure his role in Thomas Tuchel‘s plans for next summer’s World Cup and could yet remain at Palace.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Tottenham will be forced to assess alternative options as a result of Guehi’s snub.
“Tottenham have been looking at Marc Guehi again,” he told Football Insider.
“They want to sign a centre-back and he’s been on their list since they had that bid rejected in January, because Palace might be willing to let him go.
“I think it’s going to be a difficult one to get done though, because Liverpool are the favourites.
“He wants to go to a top-level side where he’s got a chance to win things like the Premier League and Champions League on a consistent basis.
“So I’m told he’s got his heart set on a move to Liverpool, where he could go and do that.
“They’re definitely interested in him and I expect they’ll make another offer at some stage.
“If that doesn’t happen, though, I wouldn’t be overly shocked to see him stay at Palace for another season and wait to go to Liverpool on a free transfer.
“Even if Tottenham do come in for him, I expect he would prefer to wait it out and see what else comes.
“There’s always a bit of uncertainty about Tottenham, for me, and I think he wants to go somewhere he’s going to be stitched-on and he knows what he’s going to get.
“Liverpool are the one he wants, so I think Tottenham will have to look elsewhere.”

Arne Slot confident of agreeing Alexander Isak signing
Alongside their pursuit of Guehi, Arne Slot’s side are also pushing forward with their interest in signing Newcastle United striker Aleander Isak.
Football Insider revealed on 28 July that Liverpool are increasingly “confident” of signing Isak and a formal bid is expected to land at St James’ Park imminently.
Isak, 25, has already told Newcastle he wants to explore a move and was left out of the travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 18 July that Newcastle feel Liverpool were trying to unsettle Isak by making a public move to sign him earlier this month.
