‘He’s hit a new low’ – Xavi Simons berated by Tottenham fans after what he did vs Chelsea

Tottenham were toothless against Chelsea as they lost 1-0 in a heated London derby.

Thomas Frank would have been enraged by his side’s performance as Chelsea took advantage of Tottenham’s weaknesses.

Apart from the imperious Guglielmo Vicario in goal, there were poor displays across the board for the Lilywhites, including their number seven.

Xavi Simons nearly joined Chelsea in the summer before Tottenham hijacked the deal, yet his latest showing left Spurs fans infuriated after spending big money on him.

Simons subbed on and off for Tottenham as fans fume

Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier exclusively told Football Insider that Tottenham must stick with Simons after his slow start to the season.

However, the Dutchman was not at the races against the Blues, losing the ball on 15 occasions as his side were unable to muster any attacking might.

The ex-PSV starlet was brought on for the injured Lucas Bergvall, before making way in the second half after a woeful 66 minutes of football.

The Spurs faithful are running out of patience for the former PSG man, with one fan saying: “The only other player I’ve ever seen being subbed on and then being subbed off for dropping a stinker was Rudzani Ramudzuli. Xavi Simons has hit a new low.” with another adding: “Xavi Simons wishing he didn’t pick the call [from Tottenham].”

The decision to bring him to north London is backfiring as of now with one Spurs supporter stating: “Xavi Simons might be the most useless player I’ve seen in a while and we employ some very useless players.” with another adding: “Xavi Simons is one of those guys where the eye test makes you think he’s sick, but every other metric makes you wonder.”
