‘He’s lost the plot’ – Hibernian fans explode at David Gray, they’re raging at one ‘embarrassing’ issue
Hibernian missed a chance to damage Hearts’ Scottish Premiership title hopes on Tuesday as they fell to a late 1-0 defeat in the Edinburgh derby.
It was no doubt a frustrating result for many of the travelling fans at Tynecastle, with the Hibees unable to hold onto the point.
As a result, David Gray’s side have remained fifth, with Falkirk possessing the chance to go level on points on Wednesday if they beat Dundee.
However, with Hibs now picking up just one win in their last five Scottish Premiership matches, there is now a real chance that they don’t finish fourth and qualify for Europe.
Now, after the derby defeat, fans have seen enough, and have called for Gray to be dismissed.
Hibs fans call for David Gray to be sacked after Hearts defeat
Hibs fans have been growing increasingly frustrated with Gray in recent weeks.
Despite delivering a successful third placed finished last season, he has been unable to replicate this so far.
The manager oversaw their shock defeat in the Scottish Cup to Dunfermline in January, ending any chances of a trophy this season.
While Hibs did manage to beat Dundee United 3-2 last week, it took two extremely late goals, with fears that this result simply papered over the cracks.
Now, after the defeat to Hearts, Hibs fans are calling for Gray’s head, as they labelled the performance “embarrassing”.
Get Gray gone. The tactics are embarrassing, 2 late goals against Dundee United saved his job. Horrific

Done with this season, done with Gray. Can blame the ref all you like but he has absolutely no plan B and sets us up to fail too many times.

Blame on gray again. What are the tactics? We are playing hoof ball last 2 games in a row. It’s crazy. All we do hoof ball. Gray just doesn’t have a clue about tactics. Completely lost the plot. How Boyle, Andrews and passlack are still on the pitch is crazy. Got to go

What did Gray say after the Hearts defeat?
A defeat in the Edinburgh derby can be damning for any manager. However, with Hearts on track to win the Scottish Premiership title, a victory was perhaps needed more than ever for Hibs.
Despite the visitors having chances, most notably when Martin Boyle sent a good chance flying over the bar, they came away with nothing.
Yet, looking back on the match, Gray felt that if anyone was going to win the game, it was going to be Hibs before Tomas Magnusson netted the winner.

He told BBC Sport on 10 February: “Very little in it again. If anyone was going to win it, I felt it was going to be us. If you don’t defend your box right until the end… That’s what’s cost us.
“The quality and big chances were slim, a draw would’ve probably been a fair result. We get nothing because we don’t do the basics for the full duration of the game.”
Up next for Hibs is St Mirren at Easter Road in what could prove to be a vital game for their European chances on Saturday.
Failure to pick up a victory here could have dire consequences for Gray, especially with Celtic on the horizon after the match.
