Heung-Min Son breaks social media silence after devastating Tottenham blow

Tottenham star Heung-Min Son has posted on social media for the first time since teammate Rodrigo Bentancur received a seven-match ban for using a racial slur against him.

Bentancur, 27, also received a £100,000 fine and will be forced to attend a face-to-face education programme by the FA after remarks made while on TV in his home country of Uruguay.

Son, 32, has since accepted the central midfielder’s apology saying in a statement on his Instagram, “I’ve spoken with Lolo. He made a mistake, he knows this and has apologised. Lolo would not mean to ever intentionally say something offensive. We are brothers and nothing has changed at all.

“We’re past this, we’re united, and we will be back together in pre-season to fight for our club as one. Sonny.”

Tottenham have appealed the length of Bentancur’s ban, accepting the guilty charge but arguing it is “severe”.

Heung-Min Son returns to Tottenham after international break

With the international breaks finally finished until March 2025, Son and Spurs can concentrate on turning their underwhelming start to the season around.

Sitting down in 10th with five wins, one draw, and five defeats from their opening 11 games, pressure is building on manager Ange Postecoglu.

Football Insider revealed (November 16) that the Australian has fallen out with at least four Spurs stars including Bentancur.

Now that Son is back at Spurs, he took to Instagram to thank South Korea fans and apologise for their recent 1-1 draw with Palestine.

With three goals and three assists in the Premier League so far, Son has once again proven to be a difference maker for Tottenham.

Both Son and Spurs will have to be at their best as they prepare for a Premier League clash with a Man City side desperate for revenge after their 2-1 League Cup defeat earlier in the season on Saturday (November 23).
