Heung-min Son in danger at Tottenham as new details emerge pre-Fulham – pundit

Kevin Campbell has backed Antonio Conte to drop Heung-min Son over Dejan Kulusevski if he wants to hand Richarlison a full Tottenham debut.

The former Arsenal striker was speaking exclusively to Football Insider in the wake of Spurs’ 1-1 derby draw with West Ham on Wednesday (31 August).

Son is yet to score in five games this season after winning the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah with 23 goals in the 2021-22 campaign.

Brazil international Richarlison is waiting in the wings and, as quoted by football.london (28 August), Conte has confirmed he will “for sure” make his full debut for the club “in the next games”.

Tottenham face Fulham, Marseille, and Man City in the space of seven days starting on 3 September.

As per FBRef, Son is recording an expected goals tally of just 0.29 per game this term – a contrast to the 0.49 xG figure recorded in 2021-22.

Campbell suggested Tottenham are yet to reach peak performance despite an unbeaten start to the new campaign.

When asked if Son or Kulusevski is more in danger of losing their place, he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think Son.

“It’s crazy to even say that because he’s been incredible – obviously winning the Golden Boot last season.

“He’s not quite hit those heights this season, for whatever reason. I don’t think Spurs have played great so far, although they’ve won games.

“Son is the one who has suffered a bit.

“If there’s going to be a change in the next week, I think it’ll be Son who comes out for Richarlison.”
