Heung-Min Son sends ‘difficult’ message to Tottenham fans after latest

Tottenham captain Heung-Min Son took to social media to address the fans regarding their “difficult moment” after the 3-2 Europa League win over Hoffenheim on Thursday (January 23).

The 32-year-old bagged a brace against the Bundesliga club as Spurs survived a late scare to cling on for a much-needed three points.

James Maddison opened the scoring after just three minutes, latching on to Pedro Porro’s hopeful long ball with a brilliant first touch before firing past Oliver Baumann in the Hoffenheim goal.

Son doubled Spurs’ lead in the 22nd thanks to a string of defensive mishaps from the home side, sending his side into the break 2-0 up.

Anton Stach got one back for Hoffenheim just after the hour-mark before Son restored Tottenham’s two-goal lead with a fine finish in the 77th minute.

David Mokwa made things tense in the 88th minute but it was too little, too late, and Spurs returned to London with all three points.

Heung-Min Son ‘taking ownership’ at Tottenham after poor run of form

The South Korean has once again been key for Spurs this season, starting 24 of his 28 games across all competitions, scoring ten goals, and providing seven assists in his 1994 minutes of action.

Tottenham have found some solace in cup competitions this season, all four of their win over their 10 games have come away from the Premier League.

Son took to Instagram after the win over Hoffenheim to address the fans after their recent poor run, saying: “The senior players are taking ownership, and the young lads are handling big responsibility. It’s been a difficult moment, but the way to get right is to play right. Next up. Let’s go.”

Postecoglu’s side currently sit in 15th, with just seven wins, three draws, 12 defeats, and 24 points from their 22 games.

Tottenham will doubtless be hoping the worst is behind them as they host Ruud van Nistelrooy’s struggling Leicester City side on Sunday (January 26).
