Heung-min Son: Tottenham have already opened talks, formal negotiations soon – sources
Tottenham will not entertain any offers for captain Heung-min Son despite his precarious contract situation, sources have told Football Insider.
The 31-year-old has been widely linked with Saudi Pro League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Son is under contract in north London until June 2025 after signing his last extension in July 2021.
However, a senior source has told Football Insider that Spurs will look to sit down formally in the summer to discuss a new deal for the South Korea international.
It is believed informal discussions are already taking place to gauge his interest in renewing with the Lilywhites.
Son in talks over new Tottenham deal amid Saudi interest
Son has risen to the responsibility of becoming Tottenham’s primary goalscorer since Harry Kane’s departure for Bayern Munich last summer (2023).
He has managed 12 goals and six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.
The forward, who will turn 32 in July, has worn the captain’s armband since the start of this term.
Son joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has gone on to hit 157 goals in 395 games for the club.
He has scored the third-most goals in club history, behind Harry Kane and Jimmy Greaves.

The two-footer has also hit 44 goals in 122 caps for South Korea.
Tottenham and Son sit fifth in the Premier League table under Ange Postecoglou, five points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa.
