Hibernian get green light to sign Felix Passlack, personal terms agreed

Hibernian are closing in on the signing of Felix Passlack, who is set to move to Easter Road from VfL Bochum.

David Gray’s side are set for a busy end to the winter transfer window as they look to make some quick additions to their squad.

Star man Kieron Bowie moved to Italian side Hellas Verona in a club-record sale, which has allowed Hibs more spending power in the closing days.

Now, Gray has wasted no time in splashing the cash, with Passlack close to completing a move to the Edinburgh side for a six-figure fee.

Felix Passlack set to sign three-and-a-half-year deal at Hibs

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Marlon Irlbacher, via X on 31 January, Hibs are close to confirming the signing of Passlack.

VfL Bochum green-lighted the move on Saturday evening, and the 27-year-old right-back is set to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Edinburgh club.

Passlack came through Borussia Dortmund’s academy, and was previously loaned out to Hoffenheim, Norwich City and Fortuna Sittard before making a permanent switch to VfL Bochum in 2023.

Since then, he has been a regular at the 2. Bundeliga side, as they look to mount a promotion challenge in the second half of the season.

The fee Hibs will reportedly pay for the right-back is said to be in the low six-figure range, as Gray looks to seal the signing before the transfer window closes.

How good is Passlack?

While Hibs may be out of the Scottish Cup, they are still fighting to finish as high as possible in the Scottish Premiership.

Realistically, the Edinburgh side could still finish fourth this season, which would see them qualify for the Europa Conference League second qualifying round.

As a result, they will be hopeful that Passlack can hit the ground running in the coming weeks.

According to Fotmob on 1 February, the stats suggest that the 27-year-old is a very capable attacking wing-back.

So far in the 2. Bundesliga this season, he has been averaging a 0.16 xG, 1.83 shots and 0.50 shots on target per match.
