Hibernian submit £1m bid to sign Sheffield Wednesday star, Championship club responds
Hibernian have made an offer to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri in the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday are set to be relegated from the Championship this season and will face foreign interest in several of their players.
Cadamarteri will be among them, with the 20-year-old having netted twice in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday are in the midst of a takeover, with a consortium led by James Bord and Felix Romer being named as the preferred bidder.
Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie is attracting interest from Wolves, and will need replacing if he is to join the relegation-threatened club.

Hibernian move for Bailey Cadamarteri
Cadamarteri is among a number of promising young Sheffield Wednesday players who will be the subject of interest in the coming months.
The Owls’ situation is one that clubs will look to take advantage of, with a similar scenario set to play out in the case of Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Pierce Charles, who is reportedly the subject of a bid from Strasbourg.
| Bailey Cadamarteri | Championship 2025-26 |
| Appearances | 25 |
| Goals | 2 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 4.87 |
| Successful dribbles | 17 |
| Duels won | 99 |
According to Alan Nixon, Hibernian have submitted a bid worth around £1million for Cademerteri.
The journalist reported to his Patreon on Thursday that the Scottish Premiership club hope to take advantage of the situation at Hillsborough, but that they will have to offer more cash.
The bid is less than the one Sheffield Wednesday rejected from Blackburn Rovers months ago, and it has been rejected by the Owls’ administrators. Although they may be under pressure to sell a player this month.
Cadamarteri could follow younger brother in Sheffield Wednesday exit
Cadamarteri’s brother, Caelan-Kole, left Sheffield Wednesday in June, joining Manchester City‘s academy in a deal reportedly worth around £1.5million.
The 16-year-old had attracted interest from several of the Premier League‘s biggest clubs, and was regarded among the Owls’ best prospects.
His brother may well be ready to join him in leaving now, although his focus will be more on immediate first-team action.
The older brother has already featured and scored for Jamaica’s international team, while the other Cadamarteri has played at the youth level for Scotland.
