Highly-rated left-sided flyer responds to reported Liverpool interest
Emerson Palmieri has said that he’s flattered to be linked to Inter Milan and Liverpool but revealed he is happy at AS Roma.
In an interview with Corriere Dello Sport, the left-back revealed that while he’s “flattered by stories” which link him to the Reds, he’s under contract to AS Roma and wants to stay where he is.
“I have heard that clubs such as Inter Milan and Liverpool are seeking to sign me,” said the 23-year-old.
“I am flattered by stories such as these, however I want to stay here in Rome.”
The defender hasn’t featured for Roma this season due to a knee injury keeping him out of action, but the star is on the brink of a return to action, having made the bench in his side’s last three outings.
Jurgen Klopp was linked with a move for the defender on deadline day, with reports saying talks had taken place between the two clubs.

Liverpool have been seeking for ways to improve their defence for the last couple of seasons, with the left-back position particularly problematic for them. Alberto Moreno has done well this season but showed Reds fans he still had a mistake in him with his performance against Sevilla. Palmieri has five years left on his contract and with the player openly stating that he wants to stay, it looks like he would cost a lot of money. The defender is also yet to return from a serious knee injury so he wouldn’t be ready to be thrown into Premier League action in January.
