‘His time has come to an end’ – Matt Le Tissier shares Ruben Amorim sack verdict after Man United latest

Ruben Amorim is unlikely to be given many more chances to improve at Man United after the defeat against Brentford.

That is the verdict of former England and Southampton star Matt Le Tissier, who exclusively told Football Insider that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the rest of the board have very little patience left at Old Trafford.

Le Tissier believed just a few days ago that Amorim had time left at Man United to turn his fortunes around, but that no longer appears the case after facing a 3-1 loss on Saturday, 27 September.

Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty and could have been sent off as a brace from Igor Thiago and a Mathias Jensen goal sunk the Red Devils at the Gtech Community Stadium.

After losing his 21st game since taking over in November, the manager is now under incredible pressure from the fans.

Ruben Amorim has run out of time at Man United, says Matt Le Tissier

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about how soon Amorim could be sacked, Le Tissier said: “I’m a big fan of giving managers time to turn things around at football clubs.

“I don’t know what Man United fans think, but surely Amorim has been given enough time to sort that team out? Still, there seems to be very little sign of massive improvement in that team. I have to think that his time has come to an end.

“I don’t think it will be long before the board makes that decision. It’s probably the right decision, as much as I don’t like seeing managers getting sacked, but this has been going on for long enough now.

“I’m not sure that the board and Ratcliffe’s patience can last much longer.”

United have just one win in their opening seven matches of the 2025-26 campaign, including being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town, but it remains to be seen who would replace him.

Oliver Glasner has proven he has what it takes to manage at Old Trafford

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is one of the candidates for Man United as pressure continues to build on Amorim’s shoulders, and he has already proven his pedigree against some of the top teams.

The Eagles have already beaten Liverpool twice, once in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, and again in the Premier League on Saturday, 27 September, under dramatic circumstances.

Eddie Nketiah scored the winner at the death at Selhurst Park, sending Selhurst Park into pandemonium, and that is the kind of thrill that United fans are after. Amorim just cannot deliver the same emotion.
