'His Time Is Up' - Exclusive: West Ham tipped to bin fan favourite in 2021 by Phillips

Kevin Phillips has tipped West Ham to bin Winston Reid next year despite the defender’s success in the MLS this season.

The former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, tipped manager David Moyes to “look elsewhere” for defensive reinforcements in 2021.

Reid will return to the London Stadium at the end of the month when his season-long loan deal with MLS side Sporting Kansas City expires.

The centre-half, who is the second-longest serving player at West Ham, still has three years remaining on his contract having penned a six-year deal in August 2017.

It has been nearly three years since the New Zealand international played for the Hammers due largely to an ACL injury which kept him sidelined for 19 months.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Reid’s prospects at the London Stadium, Phillips said:  “I do not think there is a way back for him at West Ham.

“Blimey, he still has three years left on his contract so I would never say never but I think his time at West Ham is up.

“He might want a fresh start. He has played there for quite a few years so I would think that he might look to challenge himself somewhere else.

“I would imagine David Moyes would be looking elsewhere as well. I would be surprised if he brought Reid back into the fold.”

In other news, it can be REVEALED that West Ham have agreed a new bumper £9million contract with star player.
