Hojlund and Antony react to Mason Mount’s Man United update amid Old Trafford exit links

Rasmus Hojlund and Antony have reacted to a new Man United update from Mason Mount amid rumours linking them all with an exit from the club this summer.

Mount’s tough two years at Old Trafford have been compounded by constant injury issues that have restricted him to just 30 league appearances for the club so far.

Former Red Devils chief scout, Mick Brown, revealed to Football Insider in June that United are prepared to accept offers for Mount this summer as Ruben Amorim has decided that he is not of the required standard for his squad.

He could be joined out of the exit door by another out-of-form player, with Brown recently telling Football Insider that Hojlund is unlikely to still be at Old Trafford beyond this summer following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Brazilian winger Antony is also due to leave after he spent the second-half of last season on loan at Real Betis, and he is currently training apart from his Red Devils teammates after he told Old Trafford chiefs that he wants to depart this summer [BBC Sport].

Mount shares Man United pre-season update

Antony has not joined his Man United teammates on their pre-season tour of the USA, but Mount and Hojlund have still been in action with the Red Devils ahead of the new campaign, despite numerous links away.

The England international midfielder took to Instagram on Thursday (24 July) to share a picture of him training with Hojlund and Manuel Ugarte in the background.

His United update was liked by the Dane and Antony, while Bruno Fernandes commented: “Solid mate” with a flexed bicep emoji and club legend Rio Ferdinand replied with a fire emoji.

Football Insider verdict

The size of the task at hand for United boss Amorim is pretty unfathomable right now, despite some decent signings being made, with a number of his players uncertain of what the future holds and less than a month until the new campaign starts.

Mount could leave United, but an exit for him seems less likely than one for teammate Hojlund at this current moment in time, especially with Cunha and Mbeumo already through the door and Joshua Zirkzee seemingly more likely to stay.

The Danish striker was unable to make much of a positive impact in his second season in Manchester, with just four goals scored in 34 league appearances after netting 10 in 30 league games in his debut campaign.

Antony’s departure already feels like a foregone conclusion, and Sky Sports (25 July) have reported that two top Saudi Pro League sides are interested in signing him this summer, while a Betis return is looking unrealistic at this stage of the window and the Brazilian international wants to take his time to choose his next move.

Mount could well leave in the next few weeks or months, but United do have a lot on their plate right now in terms of players that need to depart, and so his exit is probably not as high in their list of priorities compared to that of Hojlund and Antony.
