Dundee United have been condemned to another season in the second-tier of Scottish football after Friday night’s promotion playoff defeat to Livingston on aggregate – and Rangers fans were loving seeing the Arabs struggling.

After losing the first-leg 3-2 in midweek, a 1-1 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena couldn’t get Czsaba Laszlo’s side back into the game – meaning they will spend a third year in the Championship.

There have been a number of issues between the Light Blues and Dundee United in recent years, including the Gers support boycotting Tannadice as a result of United charging full admission to fans who had attended an abandoned clash between the two sides and comments made by the Arabs in 2012 while the Light Blues were in administration.

Gers fans were delighted to see United’s continued hardship -with one saying their “downfall is magical.”

Livingston will now face either Ross County or Partick Thistle in the play-off final to see which side will take part in next season’s Scottish Premiership.

Dundee United will now spend a third consecutive year in the Championship after they were relegated at the end of the 2015/16 season.

After seemingly taking great pleasure in Rangers’ downfall in 2012, Gers fans are absolutely loving seeing the shoe on the other foot and one of their most vocal critics struggling to get back to the top tier of Scottish football.
