Houston: Celtic will regret not signing this Tottenham sensation
By Matt Farr
Falkirk manager Peter Houston believes Celtic will regret passing up the opportunity to sign Tottenham sensation Dele Alli.
Tottenham signed the 21-year-old in a £5million deal from MK Dons in 2015, and the midfielder has since become one of the best players in the Premier League.
Alli contributed a stunning 22 goals and 13 assists from 50 appearances in all competitions last season, but Houston admits that he could have joined Celtic.
Houston was part of the scouting team at Parkhead when the Scottish giants were considering an approach for Alli during his breakthrough season at MK Dons in 2013-14, but they did not pursue their interest.
But he believes Celtic will now be “kicking themselves” for passing up the opportunity to sign Alli several years ago.

He said, as quoted by the Deadline News Agency: “I worked for Celtic for a little while and in the scouting department they had a list of players, and Dele Alli was on that list.
“Celtic had watched him a couple of times as a young player starting to break through, I bet they wished they had signed him.”
Alli has also made 17 appearances for the senior England national side, and is now one of England’s most sought-after talents ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Mirror had claimed back in April that Tottenham were prepared to hand him a new contract worth £40million in a bid to fend-off interest from Europe’s elite sides this summer.
Alli only signed a new long-term deal back in September, but while a fresh agreement is not yet on the table, the interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona has not receded.
In other Celtic transfer news, the club are reportedly in advanced talks to sign this Premier League winger.
