How Benjamin Sesko did for Slovenia against Switzerland, one stat makes for painful reading

Benjamin Sesko’s struggles continued as he again failed to kickstart his season on international duty with Slovenia.

Sesko started as Slovenia faced Switzerland in World Cup qualification, but the striker was hopeless as his nation lost 3-0.

Man United purchased Sesko from RB Leipzig during the summer, and 22-year-old has yet to live up to his £73million price tag at Old Trafford.

The striker has yet to score for the Red Devils, and was criticised for taking the tenth penalty in Man United’s shootout defeat to Grimsby in the League Cup.

The United forward was given a lack of service, but he also made just seven accurate passes, won just one ground duel and completed one successful dribble.

Even more worryingly, the commanding forward registered just one shot on goal. Ouch.

Man United need more from Sesko

Ruben Amorim would have been hoping the international break could have revived Sesko’s fortunes this season, but the striker has not found the net for Slovenia in either match during the international break.

Man United have not seen the best of Sesko yet as he continues to adjust to the Premier League, but his performances for Slovenia will be a cause for concern.

With the Manchester derby up next, it is tough to find a case for Sesko starting the match with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha likely to spearhead the attack once more.

Sesko needs service, and crosses into the penalty area, which he has received little of for club and country, but the striker also needs to makes more chances for himself.

Man United paid a hefty price tag for Sesko and Amorim needs to signing to pay dividends as he looks to improve his fortunes at Old Trafford.
