‘How on earth?!’ – Sky Sports commentator in disbelief at ‘big’ Everton moment vs Sunderland
Everton travelled to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland in the Premier League, with one moment leaving Don Goodman completely stunned.
High-flying Sunderland came into this contest on the back of an impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea, while Everton were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham.
But it was the visitors who drew first blood, as Iliman Ndiaye’s mazy run ended with a sweeping left-footed finish into the far corner.
The Toffees made a lightning start to the game, and arguably should have doubled their lead before half-time.

Thierno Barry misses golden chance vs Sunderland
Everton’s striker problems have been well-documented this term, as David Moyes plans to replace Beto in the January transfer window, while Thierno Barry has struggled since joining from Villarreal.
The 23-year-old made just his third Premier League start in their clash against Sunderland, and he should have scored his first goal for the club.
Jack Grealish found Barry at the back post with a lovely curled cross, but the striker somehow turned the ball over the bar from six yards out.
Speaking on Sky Sports commentary, Don Goodman was in disbelief that he didn’t score a chance that was harder to miss.
“How on earth are David Moyes’ strikers missing chances like this?,” Goodman questioned.
“You can’t miss it. Look, if you hit the target and it hits the goalkeeper and bounces away, then you can forgive it, but Moyes’ reaction is of a man who knows that’s a big moment in this game.”

Barry desperately needs a goal
Barry’s miss will have added to Moyes’ frustrations over his striker department, as Everton’s European ambitions perhaps hinge on signing a clinical number nine.
The Frenchman really needed to put away that opportunity to boost his confidence levels. A goal can change everything for a striker and that was the perfect chance to get up and running.
As a physically imposing centre-forward who links play well, Barry has impressed in other aspects of his game, while finishing has let him down.
Everton supporters will hope that once their No.11 gets off the mark, the floodgates will open, as they’re crying out for someone to grab the number nine jersey.
