How Wolves feel internally about Vitor Pereira sack as Jeff Shi’s latest stance revealed
Vitor Pereira is the Premier League’s most under-pressure manager, and he needs a miracle to transform the situation at Wolves.
Wolves were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea in midweek after a seven-goal thriller played out at Molineux.
The Old Gold are now winless in their five previous matches in all competitions, and alarmingly, have taken just two points from a possible 27 in the Premier League.
On Sunday, Wolves were beaten 3-2 by Burnley, one of their relegation rivals, and that result piled further pressure on Pereira.
Football Insider revealed that Pereira could be sacked by Wolves before the international break, yet a fresh update on the situation may have altered that plan.

Wolves are still backing Vitor Pereira
A winless start after nine games and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup would signal the end for most managers, but according to the Telegraph’s John Percy, the Portuguese boss could remain in the dugout.

Percy revealed that “Pereira still has the backing of his squad”, while there is belief internally that the situation is “improving” despite supporters witnessing a terrible start to the campaign.
Worryingly, the above is how Chairman Jeff Shi currently feels about the former Al Shabab boss and ultimately wants to afford him the chance to turn the situation around.
Shi is also “tired of the cycle” of firing managers, which explains why Pereira was given a new three-year contract by the club in September.
There is equally an acceptance that mismanagement at the top, including selling Pereira’s best players, has done little to help the manager.
Fans know that Shi and his decision-making is his biggest problem, but the manager also needs to take some responsibility, especially for his team selections.
Pereira’s latest mistake vs Chelsea
Pereira named six defenders on his Wolves team sheet against Chelsea, and whilst that was a ploy to make them less porous at the back, it had the opposite effect.
A chorus of boos rang around Molineux when Andrey Santos and Tyrique George put the visitors two nil up inside 15 minutes.
Estevao then added a third before half-time, and even though Wolves almost mounted a comeback by scoring three second-half goals, the Blues took their foot off the gas.
The decision to name six defenders in his starting lineup was a baffling one, as centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou played as a holding midfielder.
But this isn’t the only time Pereira has shocked supporters with his team selection, doing so on numerous occasions. It’s part of the reason why Wolves are struggling to win.
