Star striker ruled out of Arsenal clash against Manchester City

Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City’s showdown against Arsenal later this month due to suspension.

The City striker was sent off in the final seconds of City’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon for a wild lunge on David Luiz.

Aguero was handed a red card for violent conduct and is now facing a four-match suspension.

The Argentina international is set to miss City’s Premier League fixtures against Watford, Leicester, Arsenal and Hull.

It will be a huge boost to Arsenal that the prolific Aguero will be unavailable for the 18 December clash at Etihad Stadium.

The forward has scored 16 goals in 20 matches for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, and is second in the Premier League scoring charts with 10 strikes, behind only Diego Costa.

The Chelsea man pulled clear on Saturday after scoring a brilliant equaliser in a breathless encounter.

Nevertheless, Aguero’s pedigree is without question. In 228 appearances for City, he has scored a remarkable 152 goals and also supplied 46 assists.

Chelsea’s win on Saturday extended their lead at the Premier League summit to four points and keeps City in third place on 30 points.

In other Arsenal news, two more players have been added to Arsene Wenger’s growing injury list ahead of their Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday.
