Frank McAvennie has blasted Rangers star Jordan Jones for following up his Celtic sending-off with his “huge” Covid-19 breach.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Celtic and St. Mirren forward claimed the winger is “wrong and out of order”.
Jones and George Edmundson were caught at a party broken up by police in Glasgow on Sunday night mixing with people from different households.
They have now been suspended by the Ibrox club and an investigation will take place as they isolate for 14 days.
Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard told Rangers TV: “The players know they let themselves down and their families, they’ve also badly let their team-mates down and the supporters of the club.”
McAvennie told Football Insider: “Footballers are footballers. I know they’ve made mistakes.
“After seeing what happened to the Aberdeen boys and [Boli] Bolingoli, there’s people saying it’s not as bad as that. But I think it is, it is just as bad.
“The boys know what they’ve done. The boy Jones as well, he’s done himself no favours.
“After he got sent off against Celtic last season and after that, he came back and did alright. The two boys were wrong, they were out of order.
“They’ve made a huge mistake and everyone is speculating as to what will happen with them.
“It’s going on and on, the lockdown is getting to everyone and I can understand their frustration but you need to do it.”
Jones and Edmundson have started just three games between them this season for Rangers in all competitions but Jones has scored this campaign.
Neither were in Gerrard’s 18-man matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
