Tottenham are set to welcome back three “huge” players to the starting XI when they take on Manchester United on Friday night, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he is buzzing after hearing the early team news from Jose Mourinho.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mourinho confirmed that Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Moussa Sissoko will all return to the starting XI on Friday after their respective injury layoffs.

The England striker and France midfielder have not been since the first game of 2020, with both forced to undergo surgery early in the year.

Whelan admits he is seriously excited by the clash in north London and insists that the aforementioned trio will play a “huge” role for Mourinho.

Whelan told Football Insider: “It changes the dimension of Tottenham – when you look at that on paper they look very, very strong.

“It’s going to be very interesting to see if Pogba plays, I’m not sure if he will straight away, he might be on the bench but for Tottenham, massive three players, huge characters in their team.

“Definite match winners as well so it’s going to be intriguing. I’m looking forward to this one, it’s going to be a great match up, Tottenham need to win, Manchester United need to win to keep their European hopes alive. It’s going to be a cracker.”

Kane has scored 17 goals in 25 appearances this season, with 11 of those strikes coming in the Premier League.

Son, who had been ruled out of action back in February, has netted nine times in the top flight so far, with a further eight assists under his belt.
