Leeds United and Reading target Jordan Hugill has handed in a transfer request, Football Insider sources understand.
Reading had an £8million bid for Hugill rejected last week as Preston battle to keep hold of their star striker.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds are also considering an offer for Hugill as they continue their search for a replacement for Chris Wood following his exit to Burnley.
In the wake of Reading’s rejected bid, Hugill has attempted to engineer his exit by Thursday’s deadline by slapping in a transfer request to secure a move away from Deepdale.
The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the best young forwards in the Championship after catching the eye for Preston last season.
Hugill has impressed at Preston since joining from Port Vale in 2014 after starting his career in non-league football.
Hugill finished as their top scorer this season with 13 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions and he has scored three goals in five games already this term.
Birmingham have seen a couple of bids for Hugill rejected already this summer, while Sunderland have shown an interest in the player as former Simon Grayson was keen on being reunited with the player at the Stadium of Light.
