Hugo Ekitike reacts to Florian Wirtz’s terrifying ‘watch out’ message
Liverpool’s new signing Florian Wirtz is geared up for the incoming new season with a frightening message for Premier League defences.
Wirtz joined Liverpool in an £100m deal at the beginning of the window, after an impressive five-year spell at Bayer Leverkusen which saw him win the Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso in 2024.
The German joins after Liverpool won their second Premier League title last season ahead of nearest challengers Arsenal.
Manager Arne Slot has also signed striker Hugo Ekitike and defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong this summer to bolster his squad.

Wirtz eager to begin new campaign
Liverpool are embarking on a pre-season tour of Asia where Wirtz made his debut for Liverpool in their 4-2 defeat to AC Milan.
Wirtz though is already prepared for the new season as shown by his latest Instagram video, which included the caption: “Watch out, they’re faaast,” which was liked by new team mate Ekitike.
The pair were rivals in the Bundesliga as Ekitike spent last season at Eintracht Frankfurt before joining Liverpool.
The 23-year-old was not involved against AC Milan, but he has joined up with the squad in Asia and may feature in their next friendly against Yokohama FM in Japan.
Isak signing could spell Ekitike problem
Football Insider Verdict
Liverpool supporters were able to see Wirtz in action for the first time against AC Milan and it was an encouraging display from the 22-year-old.
Wirtz registered an assist when he laid the ball off for Dominik Szoboszlai to equalise for Liverpool before half-time.
The German was withdrawn at the break, as Slot rotated his squad to give many of his players crucial minutes.
Wirtz should become an influential player once he finds his rhythm in a settled Liverpool side.

However, Slot could have a dilemma on his hands if he signs Alexander Isak from Newcastle, and what role that means for Ekitike.
Also, with Luis Diaz departing to Bayern Munich, Slot needs to make a decision whether he signs a new left winger or sticks with either Cody Gakpo or Harvey Elliott.
Among those problems, at the back Ibrahima Kontate’s future is still yet to be resolved meaning transfer funds may have to be spent elsewhere.
