Hugo Ekitike responds to Jeremie Frimpong’s ‘huge’ Liverpool message – ‘My favourite’

Jeremie Frimpong was pleased to make his first Liverpool appearance since August as the Reds defeated Burnley 1-0 on Sunday.

As Arne Slot made several additions to his squad in the summer transfer window, Frimpong joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, courtesy of injury, the 24-year-old had not featured for the Reds since 15 August, before making a cameo appearance off the bench against the Clarets on 14 September.

Thanks to Mohamed Salah’s last-minute penalty, Liverpool beat Burnley at Turf Moor and sit top of the Premier League.

Frimpong was introduced to the action in the 87th minute of Liverpool’s win over Burnley, replacing Ibrahima Konate.

The right-back will now hope to feature when Slot’s side host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, 17 September.

Having made his return from injury, Frimpong took to Instagram on 14 September to share: “Back in my favourite place. Huge three points.”

Fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike commented with two red heart emojis.

Hugo Ekitike faces uphill battle for game time after Alexander Isak addition

Since joining Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt, striker Ekitike has proven that he can perform in the Premier League by scoring two goals and producing one assist in four top-flight appearances.

However, the Reds’ transfer deadline day acquisition of Alexander Isak could mean that Ekitike struggles for minutes as the season continues.

Unlike Isak, the 23-year-old does not boast rich Premier League experience.

The Sweden hotshot notched 23 goals and six assists in 34 top-flight outings for his former club, Newcastle United, last term and should prove to be even better while playing alongside world class talents like Salah.

Meanwhile, after being omitted from Slot’s squad against Burnley, Isak is set to feature against Atletico Madrid in Liverpool’s opening Champions League game.

Diego Simeone’s side have earned just one win in four La Liga fixtures this term, showing that they could struggle at Anfield on 17 September.
