Tottenham goalkeeper and skipper Hugo Lloris has stated that Spurs are not in the title race and are just concentrating on securing a top-four spot.
Spurs beat Burnley 2-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Eric Dier and Son Heung-min to consolidate second place in the Premier League.
The gap to table toppers Chelsea was cut to seven points as the Blues suffered a shock loss at the hands of Crystal Palace.
However, with just nine games remaining it seems unlikely that Tottenham will chase down Chelsea in the title race and Lloris has claimed the title race is over.
On Sky Sports the Frenchman said: “We don’t talk about the title because even seven points is a big gap at this stage of the season.
“We’re still focused on ourselves. We want to finish as high as possible in this league and be back in the Champions League.”
Tottenham’s win over Burnley was their fourth straight Premier League win, and they secured an FA Cup semi-final spot during that period too.
Spurs are now nine points clear of Manchester United in fifth, althoughUnited do have a game in hand, so a top four place looks all but secured for Spurs.
Lloris has made 34 league and cup appearances so far this season, and has featured in all but three of their league matches.
He has kept a total of 13 clean sheets this season – with 11 of them coming in the league.
