Hull City agree deal to sign Burnley star John Egan – sources

Hull City have agreed a deal to sign Burnley defender John Egan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 32-year-old is set to join the Tigers in a permanent deal ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline.

Egan has featured sparingly for Burnley after joining the club on a free transfer in September 2024.

The defender only signed a deal running until the end of the 2024-25 campaign but is already set for a move to Hull.

He has made eight appearances across all competitions this term, starting in just two of those outings.

The Republic of Ireland international has been named in the matchday squad in every game since his free transfer arrival.

Egan is an experienced operator at Championship level after his time with Sheffield United and Brentford.

The Cork-born star, who left Bramall Lane last summer (2024), also made 73 Premier League appearances with the Blades.

He has racked up 36 Ireland caps since making his debut in March 2017 but made his last international appearance almost 18 months ago.

Hull sit 21st in the Championship after losing 2-1 away at Stoke City on Saturday (1 February).
