Hull City in advanced talks to appoint Reading boss Ruben Selles – sources
Hull City are in advanced talks to agree a deal for Reading boss Ruben Selles to be their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The Tigers are confident of sealing a deal for the Spanish coach in the next 24-48 hours.
Championship strugglers Hull are searching for a new manager following the sacking of Tim Walter last month.
Selles, 41, has impressed at Reading since his appointment in 2023 – despite working under difficult circumstances at the Berkshire club.
His Royals side sit sixth in League One after 17 games amid a backdrop of financial uncertainty at the club, who were placed under a transfer embargo in October.
The Valencia-born coach is under contract until June 2026.
Hull could do Selles deal within 48 hours
He joined Reading after a spell with Southampton, where he succeeded Nathan Jones and oversaw just two wins in 17 games as they were relegated to the Championship.
Selles had previously worked as assistant to Jones and Ralph Hasenhuttl at St Mary’s Stadium before taking his first job in senior management.

Hull sit inside the relegation zone after 18 games of the 2024-25 campaign and have lost each of their last five Championship games.
Owner Acun Ilicali has promised he and management team are ready to provide new signings for the Tigers in the January transfer window.
