Hull strong contenders to sign Birmingham star who could have deal terminated early
Hull City are leading the race to land Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas on loan if his spell at Birmingham City is ended before the conclusion of the January window.
Versatile forward Koumas has struggled to make an impact at newly-promoted Birmingham this season after joining on loan from Liverpool last summer.
He scored six times in 49 appearances on loan at Stoke City in 2024-25, but has notched just once in 25 games for the Blues up to now.
Chris Davies has only handed him seven Championship starts so far, with Birmingham soon set to sign Carlos Vicente to further bolster his attacking options as they push for a top-six finish.
Birmingham fans slammed Koumas for his performance against Derby County last month, and he could soon depart, with fellow promotion-chasers Hull eyeing a move.

Hull are eyeing Lewis Koumas approach if his Blues loan is ended
Sergej Jakirovic has transformed Hull into a top Championship side this season, as they sit fourth in the table, just five points from second-placed Middlesbrough.
The Tigers have already strengthened their depth in the final third this month with the arrivals of Yu Hirakawa and Kieran Dowell, and Koumas may soon be on his way to Humberside too.
Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle has revealed, via X, that Hull have emerged as “strong contenders” to sign Koumas for the rest of the season if his loan spell at Birmingham is ended prematurely in the next week.
Hull could sell star defender Charlie Hughes to Crystal Palace
Hull have conceded the second-most goals of any team in the Championship top-half so far this term, yet centre-back Hughes has been a standout in his position across the whole division.
The 22-year-old has started 26 of their 28 league matches up to now, and his fine form for the Tigers has seen Premier League Palace keeping tabs on his progress in recent months.

Sources have told Football Insider that Palace are interested in signing Hughes as a replacement for Marc Guehi, who recently completed a move to Man City.
Hull could be tempted to cash in on Hughes this month, as revealed by Football Insider, but he is on the radar of a number of other Premier League clubs as well, and they may well wish to wait until the summer for a bidding war to ensue if he continues his strong performances.
