Hutton: Traore will be suffering 'worst pain ever' as he faces extended Aston Villa absence
Alan Hutton fears Aston Villa could be without Bertrand Traore “for a while” after his injury against Newcastle United.
The former Holte End favourite, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the winger may have damaged his ribs as he joins fellow dazzler Jack Grealish on the sidelines.
The 25-year-old went off holding his side after colliding with the advertising hoardings 20 minutes in at St James’ Park.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw, Dean Smith admitted he was not sure as to how severe Traore’s blow was.
However, Hutton admitted he fears the winger could face a significant spell on the sidelines if he has cracked any ribs.
“I’ve cracked my ribs before playing,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

“It’s probably one of the worst pains I’ve ever had in my life. You can’t sleep. You can sneeze. You can’t cough. If we’re going down that route, that he’s possibly cracked something, he’ll be missing for a while.
“It’s not something you can just, maybe, take a painkiller and get through it. It’s maybe one of the worst pains I’ve ever had. It’s disappointing.
“He’s another attacking option that, on his day, can light up a game. To have him missing as well as Jack (Grealish) is not ideal. So we’ll have to see how that plays out.
“Hopefully it’s not as bad as that and he’s recovered by now but we’ll have to wait and see in the coming days.”
