Hutton drops ‘massive’ Brendan Rodgers claim after Celtic latest – ‘How has this happened?’
Brendan Rodgers’ lack of surprise when Celtic lost to Hearts is “more worrying” that the 2-0 defeat itself.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton admitted it was a “massive shock” to see the Hoops suffer their second consecutive league defeat against the Jambos on Saturday (16 December).
The loss leaves Celtic five points adrift of Rangers at the top of the table, but Philippe Clement’s side have two games in hand to make up the deficit and reach the summit.

After the game at Parkhead, Rodgers noted that his side lacked passion and intensity and admitted that “in some ways” he was not shocked to loss the game.
Hutton feels that these comments should be the biggest cause for concern for Hoops fans and questioned how the boss allowed such passivity.
“It is a massive shock,” he told Football Insider.
“I did think it would be a difficult game and that Hearts would frustrate them but from the outside looking in, it looked like Celtic had a lack of energy and motivation.
“They were going through the motions a little bit.
“It was two really good goals from a Hearts point of view.
“The more worrying thing for me was Brendan Rodgers’ interview after the game.
“He was asked if he was shocked by the result, and he basically said no.

“We’ve obviously seen in after the St Johnstone game. He feels like he saw it coming and this is a guy who sees them work daily, so how has this happened?.
“So that was probably the most worrying thing about it.”
