Hutton excited as Aston Villa reportedly plot raid for 'special' Traore rival who's 'got everything'
West Brom winger Matheus Pereira would be an “absolutely fantastic” signing for Aston Villa, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old would help take Dean Smith’s men to the next level.
As reported by the Athletic, Villa are among Pereira’s many suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.
Sam Allardyce has already admitted Pereira may be considering his future following the Baggies’ relegation and insisted “everybody has a price”.
The Express claim West Brom could demand as much as £30million for the winger after his excellent debut season in the Premier League.
Hutton admitted he had been dazzled by Pereira’s performances in a struggling Baggies side.

He insisted the winger would only improve as a player at Villa.
Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “Absolutely fantastic player. He’s got everything really. At times he was a one-man band for West Brom with some of the stuff that he can do.
“He was just growing with confidence within a team that were going to get relegated, which is something special in my opinion.
“For him to go into a team with other confident players round about him that are going to contribute and play alongside them, I think he can get better again.
“That type of player that they’re targeting. He’s young but has already proved himself at a high level. He could come in and make your own squad better. What were they talking, £30million or something like that?
“I don’t think it’s a price that would really put Aston Villa off if I’m totally honest. It’s an area where I think they need to improve. El Ghazi, Trezeguet, Traore have done well in flashes but I think they need to be more consistent.
“Maybe having that competition with a player like Pereira would obviously spur them on to do even better.”
Pereira has netted 10 goals and contributed a further five assists in 31 Premier League appearances this season.
He joined West Brom for a reported £8.25million last summer after a successful loan spell.
