Alan Hutton admitted he was stunned Trezeguet had not scored for Aston Villa this season before his brace against Fulham.
The former Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, lauded the 26-year-old for taking his opportunity in Jack Grealish’s absence on Sunday.
The Egypt international came off the bench just after the hour mark to help Villa come from 1-0 down to win 3-1.

They were his first goals since the 1-0 win over Arsenal in the penultimate game of last season.
He has made 20 league appearances this term, although only 11 of those have come among the starting XI.
Hutton admitted he was gobsmacked to read the 48-cap international had not found the back of the net at all this term.
However, the ex-Villan heralded the winger for his work rate, regardless of his stats.
Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “I couldn’t believe it when I was reading it. I genuinely couldn’t believe it was his first two goals of the season.
“I was like: ‘Wow.’ It kind of summed up his performance over this season. Reading through some of their stats, I think they’d only scored three goals before that game since Jack’s been out.
“Obviously that’s really disappointing. It shows you how much they’ve missed Jack. For him to come off the bench and put in a good performance, score two goals, he looked hungry.
“To be fair, maybe I’m being a bit harsh because he always gives 100 per cent. You can see that in his performances, he always runs about and gives everything. Sometimes he just lacks that final ball or final touch to put it in the goal.
“I was happy for him to come in. It was a big opportunity for him. Villa needed to get back to winning and they needed to score goals. It was good to see him come on and score his first two.”
