Hutton makes 'incredible' Bailey claim after Smith gamble at Aston Villa
Alan Hutton has lauded Aston Villa boss Dean Smith for “rolling the dice” on Leon Bailey in the 3-0 win over Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa star admitted he was blown away by the 24-year-old’s “unbelievable” cameo.
The Jamaica international delivered a game-changing performance from the bench, contributing a goal in the 3-0 win.
All of Villa’s goals came while Bailey was on the pitch.
His cross from a corner also resulted in Lucas Digne heading into his own net for the second.
Bailey had only made two appearances for Villa, totalling 64 minutes, before the win.

Hutton admitted he had been dazzled by the winger’s “incredible” display.
He insisted Smith deserved a lot of credit for taking a gamble on the barely-seen winger.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Wow, unbelievable. Genuinely, what a performance.
“What was he on for, 18 minutes or something like that? Fans were raving about him. Fair play to the manager, Dean Smith needs a lot of credit.
“He rolled the dice a little bit on 60 minutes. He took off Targett and put Bailey on. It was kind of all-out attack, go for it, make something happen.
“He stood up and made something happen. I think he was absolutely incredible.
“The confidence he showed, straight onto the pitch: ‘I’ll take the free-kicks. I’ll take the corners. I’ll run in behind and make something happen.‘
“His goal was fantastic. We’ve seen the pace, the power, the precision of the short. He just showed everything he was capable of.
“What a sign of things to come when he really gets going.”
