Hutton makes ‘magic’ Ridvan Yilmaz claim after what he’s spotted at Rangers
Alan Hutton has heaped praise on Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz following his start to life at Ibrox.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back claimed the 21-year-old can produce “a little bit of magic” on the wing.
Yilmaz started the Bears’ Premier Sports Cup game against Queen of the South on Tuesday (30 August).
The Turkey international played the full 90 minutes of the game and provided the assist for Scott Arfield’s first goal.
Yilmaz was an unused substitute on Saturday as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side lost 4-0 to Celtic.
On 25 July, the Ibrox club confirmed the signing of the defender from Besiktas.
He put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Glasgow club.
When asked for his assessment of Yilmaz’s performance during the week, Hutton told Football Insider: “I thought he did really well actually.
“They got up and down the wing well. Rangers, at times, only had Leon King playing centre-half so he was allowed that freedom to go and attack and show his ability and I think he did that with Arfield’s goal.
“The little bit of magic on the wing. He looked good. Defensively he didn’t really get tested, you can only play against who you’re up against so it was all about him going forward but I think there were signs of a very good player there.“

Yilmaz made 33 appearances for Besiktas last season across all cometitions.
During those outings he scored three goals and provided four assists.
