Hutton makes 'nightmare' claim as Bailey raises Aston Villa 'red flag'
Alan Hutton has urged Aston Villa to be extra cautious after Leon Bailey’s injury scare against Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender admitted missing part or all of pre-season can be a “nightmare” for a player.
The winger made a 21-minute cameo against the Toffees before being forced off through injury.
As quoted by the Express and Star, Bailey revealed he had suffered a tight quad after scoring Villa’s third of the night.
The summer signing missed three games with a hamstring problem back in August.
Hutton admitted the Jamaica international’s explosiveness means he needs to be managed more carefully.

As such, he insists a tight muscle should be a “red flag” to Villa.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s a little bit different to some players because he’s so explosive. That’s kind of a red flag.
“You need to be careful, especially if you’re coming back from a hamstring injury or things like that. He’s that quick off the mark that he needs to be right.
“The intensity of the Premier League is massive so it’s always going to put strain on your body. They’re going to have to be careful with him, he is playing catch up.
“Obviously, it’s a nightmare for a footballer if you miss pre-season or part of him. You’re trying to catch up to the rest of the team.
“It looks like he’s just desperate to play, he looks a little bit frustrated. He knows he can make the difference but he just needs to get into the team gradually.
“Dean Smith tried that. I mean he was on for 18 minutes but he’s that powerful that you really need to be careful.
“I’m sure over the coming weeks, depending on how bad he is, they’ll take their time with him and try bed him in really slowly.”
