Hutton: Nicolas Raskin is the perfect Rangers signing – and this is why

Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers must continue to bring the average age of the team down.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender insisted that manager Michael Beale has a clear vision of where he wants to take the club.

The Light Blues confirmed the deadline day signing of Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege.

The 21-year-old signed a long-term contract with the Ibrox club.

On 23 January, the Gers confirmed the arrival of 24-year-old Todd Cantwell from Norwich, who joined Ibrox on a long-term deal.

38-year-old Steven Davis and 34-year-old Scott Arfield are both out of contract in the summer.

Alfredo Morelos, 26, and Ryan Kent, 26, will also see their deals expire at the end of the season and are each yet to sign an extension.

As quoted by the Herald (30 January), Beale insisted he is not setting a deadline for the pair to commit their future to the Glasgow club.

When asked what Beale’s plan for transfers moving forward will be, Hutton told Football Insider:From what it looks like so far it is bringing the average age of the group down.

He is looking for a specific type of player, a certain age, a hunger to go and improve and become better under Beale’s leadership. I think that is the aim for him.

Raskin fits the mould that Rangers and Beale are looking for. I think that is the way forward for them.”

In other news, according to sources, Southampton are plotting a move for Rangers starlet Cameron Scott after he rejects club’s contract offer.
