Hutton opens up on 'ding-dongs with Bruce' and his fear over Newcastle bust-up and what happens next
A training ground leak at Newcastle United is the biggest concern to have arisen from Steve Bruce’s bust-up with Matt Ritchie, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Aston Villa star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed he had also had spats with his old boss but insisted they were part of professional football.
Bruce confirmed there had been a training ground row with Ritchie following the 1-1 draw with Wolves.
The Newcastle boss insisted the incident had been resolved and named Ritchie among the substitutes against West Brom.
Bruce also admitted the club were looking to unearth the source of the leak.
Hutton, who worked with the 60-year-old at Villa and Sunderland, insisted the real worry was that news of the row had got out of the Magpies’ training ground.

Asked if he was surprised to hear of the bust-up, Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “Not really. By the way, this isn’t just me pinpointing Steve Bruce, this happens all the time.
“I’ve had ding-dongs with Steve Bruce, after games in the dressing room, shouting back and forth. back and forth. It was part of it, that’s what football is.
“It’s emotional, people can get worked up at times, the score’s going against you and you react just off emotion. It can happen.
“So no, I’m not surprised. Probably the only thing that really let him down is it getting out.
“I listened to what Steve Bruce said and it hurt him. It happens at every other club, trust me, and you don’t hear of it.
“At Newcastle, everything seems to get out somehow. I think that’s the bit that’s really hurting him.”
