Hutton: Rangers could be about to sign Steven Alzate – ‘it will come down to the fee’
Brighton’s Steven Alzate would be a “difference maker” in the Rangers starting XI if he move to Ibrox.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton claimed that Philippe Clement’s side are targeting players of a similar profile to the attacking midfielder this month.
As revealed by Football Insider (8 January), La Liga duo Sevilla and Granada have joined the Gers in the hunt for the 25-year-old, who is currently out on loan with Standard Liege.

The Colombia international has made 12 appearances in all competitions in Belgium, notching two goals and one assist from central and attacking midfield.
He is working his way back to fitness following an ankle issue but is expected to return to action within the next week.
With his Brighton contract set to expire at the end of the season, Hutton was adamant that he would be a quality addition to the squad.
“What a signing. He’d be a great addition to the team,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s somebody with experience and I think Rangers are looking at several targets like this, especially in forward positions.
“They’re looking at attackers and players for central midfield too.
“Alzate can be a difference maker. It will come down to the fee.

“Is he available in the summer? That’s how it works up in Scottish football.
“But he’s definitely someone who can come into the squad and add to the starting line-up.”
