Ollie Watkins could terrorise Leeds United with his clever movement when Aston Villa visit Elland Road on Sunday.

That is the view of former Villa defender Alan Hutton who, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old’s quality would be crucial in executing an effective counter-attack.

Watkins, 25, has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances for the Villans this season, including four in his last seven.

Meanwhile, Leeds have built up a reputation of playing expansive, high-pace football since their return to the Premier League this season.

The Whites proved their attacking intent on Tuesday evening as they saw off Southampton in a 3-0 win.

However, Hutton insisted if Villa can soak up the pressure, the likes of Watkins could be used to devastating effect.

Asked who he thought could make the difference on Sunday, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think you’re looking to the likes of Ollie Watkins.

“He’s played at a very high level throughout the whole season, he likes to make those runs in behind.

“Both sides like to attack as well but Villa are going to have to be on their A-game, especially defensively.

“If they can turn that into a counter-attack and get at them, they’ll have an opportunity.

“I think that’s one of the main things, if you bypass that first press, you can get at them.

“It was obviously a very disappointing game against them at home, it’ll be something they’ll be looking to put right.”
