Hwang Hee-Chan sends Wolves message after Blackburn knocked out

Wolves striker Hwang Hee-Chan has sent a message to Wolves fans after their win over Blackburn in the FA Cup.

The South Korean striker played the first half of a 2-0 win against Blackburn, assisting Wolves‘ opener in the FA Cup fourth round.

Blackburn were unfortunate to not be given a penalty against Wolves, following a challenge from Emmanuel Agbadou on winger Augustus Kargbo in the 26th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Hwang set up Joao Gomes for Wolves’ opener as the Brazilian scored his first FA Cup goal.

Gomes had been a transfer target for Man United and Liverpool, but Wolves managed to keep hold of their talented midfielder in January.

Only one minute after the Brazilian’s opener, Matheus Cunha scored Wolves’ second and put the match to bed, thanks to an assist from Nelson Semedo.

Cunha was linked with a transfer to Arsenal in January, and is expected to leave the club if they fail to survive relegation this season.

Hwang Hee-Chan celebrates team performance as Wolves prepare for Bournemouth

Hwang posted a photo of himself celebrating with his teammates on his Instagram story, captioned: “To the next round. Good performance as a team.”

Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021, the Wolves striker has been a consistent player for his side, but has struggled this season.

Following a blistering start to the season, Hwang was linked with a move to Liverpool in January 2024, but has only managed two goals in 17 Premier League games this season.

Wolves will face Bournemouth in the FA Cup fifth round, at the Vitality Stadium on 1 March.

Wolves relying on established stars to turn around dismal season

Wolves currently find themselves hovering above the Premier League relegation zone this season, and are sat 17th with 19 points.

Having sacked Gary O’Neil, the Midlands club brought in Vitor Pereira from Saudi Arabia to help turn around the team’s poor form.

Despite a bright start, Wolves once again find themselves struggling for points, but a 2-0 win over rivals, Aston Villa, represents a great chance to build some momentum in their push for Premier League survival.
