I admit I was completely wrong about Keith Andrews but the real Brentford star is this ‘superb’ operator
Brentford are continuing to be a stable Premier League club after posting strong financial results.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after Brentford released their latest financial accounts.
Brentford recorded club record turnover of £173.1m for the 2024-25 season, an increase from £166.5m the year before.
The Bees are competing in their fifth successive Premier League campaign since promotion to the top flight in 2021, with a possibility of European football next season.
Brentford ‘an extremely well-run club’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Brentford’s turnover is “approximately half of Man United‘s commercial revenue.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness continues to be impressed by the work happening at the London club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, looking at it, it’s approximately half of Man United’s commercial revenue. So look, for Brentford to get up to that level is very good.
“Brentford’s an extremely well-run club. I think Jon Varney does a superb job as chief executive, and they’ve got good owners. They’ve had some recent owners come in with some capital injection as well. I’m a great admirer of what Brentford do. I think they’re punching above their weight.
“Keith Andrews has been the revelation that I got completely wrong at the start of the season, like many people. He’s proved me wrong, happy to admit it, and he’s done a great job. So overall, Brentford are doing well.”

Brentford set for further revenue increase
Brentford’s 2024-25 accounts did not include the summer sales of players like Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard.
The club’s revenue is therefore set to increase further next season thanks to the sales, which accumulated to around £140million.
Keith Andrews’ side are in no danger of relegation to the Championship this season, with the Bees currently seventh in the Premier League table.
